Chris Groves has been performing stand up comedy for over five years. He is one of the leading figures in English comedy in Barcelona. His show SUCK – Stand Up Comedy Kills established stand up comedy in English as an important part of the ‘Expat’ Cultural scene, and was the longest running regular stand up show in Barcelona. He now runs Barcelona Comedy Club in English, and is a regular host and headliner on all the shows which make up the fast growing stand up comedy scene in Barcelona. Chris has hosted and warmed up for many of the professional comedians visiting Barcelona, including Greg Fitzsimmons, Carmen Lynch, Simon Munnery and Nick Revell. He has also performed in London and other cities in England and was part of a two man show, The Speedy Boarding Tour, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013, for a packed out run. Recently Chris has turned to performing stand up in Spanish, where his very different style of humour is being well received by both fellow comedians and audiences. When not performing stand up Chris has found time to develop his career as an English language teacher. He has taught English and Business English to students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to helping students pass their Cambridge Proficiency Exam. This background in language teaching, added to performing in different languages, means Chris has a great ability to connect to and communicate with international audiences. As well as finding humour in the essential differences between cultures, Chris’s comedy touches on very personal feelings and behaviour, making audiences from all over the world laugh at what can only be described as universal truths
